As the COVID-19 pandemic has unfolded over the past few months our primary goals have been to comply with all government directives, to act as a responsible member of our community, to protect the health and well-being of our players, families and volunteers and to return to the field as soon as appropriately safe to do so.
With this in mind, our board and committee members have been working through plans to start baseball activities.
While the Safer at Home order for Dane county will expire on May 26th, our commitment to the health and safety of our players will not. For this reason and being mindful of the factors of public health, social distancing, and societal well-being we’ll be implementing a series of measures to be taken before, during, and after our games and practices. All other key prevention strategies by the Wisconsin Department of Health will be strictly followed. In addition, we have also been in contact with surrounding little league organizations to learn and apply similar ideas for game play while following current guidelines. While we have not yet determined which guidelines will be implemented, it is safe to assume that if and when baseball returns, it will look different than in the past. You can find a full list of our currently proposed strategies on our website. Click here
On a personal note, my family and I have decided that we want to play baseball this summer even if that means we do so by adjusting to the new “normal”. We understand and appreciate that not all our families will agree with and be willing to adopt these measures. If after reading the proposed strategies you come to the decision that participating in Verona Little League is not a choice for your family this year, we ask that you respond by Wednesday, May 20th (5/20/20) to request a refund. Our hope is ALL players will return next season and we set yet another record for registrations as we continue to create great experiences for our families and grow each child’s love of the game!
The short timeframe for a decision is to allow time to thoughtfully plan and administer what’s necessary for a successful little league baseball season!
If you are requesting a refund, please do so by sending an email to email@example.com
Additional information will be provided as timely as possible. I look forward to seeing everyone at the complex soon!
Thank you and stay safe,
President, Verona Little League
