Verona Little League - 2020 Season Update

Updated: 28 MAY 2020

I am pleased to let you know that we have reached a point where we can enter our first phase of operations at Verona Little League. I am happy that we are able to provide the kids in our community the opportunity to play baseball this season. I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank you all for sticking with us. I’d like to preface this email with a note that things change quickly, and we’ll need to adapt as they do. We have been working closely with Public Health Madison and Dane county and we’ll continue to do so while we navigate what is acceptable and appropriate for the health and safety of our players, coaches, volunteers and families.

The league drafts are happening over the next four days. This means that players registered in our league will be placed on a team and coaches will be reaching out by Sunday the 31st. This is an exciting step in the process and one that I am looking forward to. You can expect to have a practice scheduled as early as Monday, June 1st.

As you can imagine, the logistics of entering and exiting the facility, maintaining cleanliness as well as running a practice needed to be altered to accommodate social distancing standards. For this reason, we’ve created a guidance document for phase one for both our families and our coaches. You can find a link to the document on this web page (above).

Please read the guidance, share it with your player, and help us implement the strategies needed to stay in compliance. Each of us has responsibility in the health and safety of all associated with our organization.

Your coach is your conduit to the league. Once you are assigned a team, please reach out to him or her with any questions you have. As always, you can reach out to our commissioner of baseball, Mike Bolger or me with questions or concerns as well.

I can understand the curiosity in wanting to know when we will move to the phase of our plan where we are playing games. I don’t feel it’s appropriate to attach a date to that right now as the guidance is fluid.
As new information becomes available it will be shared league wide.

I look forward to seeing you at the fields soon!
